1980年代初期ウェストコースト・パンク・レーベルとしてスタートしたエピタフは、今やロック・バンドだけでなくトム・ウェイツやトリッキー、ボブログ3世、ソロモン・バーク、マール・ハガードとパンクなアティテュードを持つ異ジャンル・アーティスト達をリリースし話題となている。そして2003年、遂にヒップホップ・アクトをリリースするに至る。第1弾はアンダーグラウンド界のカリスマ、スラッグ率いるアトモスフィアの通算3枚目。スラッグによる奥が深く色彩豊かなリリック、引出しの多いフロウは非常に高い評価を得ており、世界最高のヒップホップMCの一人として知られている。
